The HRO Cage Fish Farming Project was started in January 2026 on Lake Victoria.

HRO currently operates two floating fish cages, stocked with approximately 6,000 tilapia fingerlings per cage, and is approaching its first harvest.

Why we started
The project was established to:
• Create a sustainable income-generating activity for HRO.
• Create livelihood and employment opportunities.
• Develop practical aquaculture and entrepreneurship skills.
• Contribute to local food production and nutrition.
• Build an enterprise whose growth can support HRO’s education, livelihood and community programmes.

Our target
HRO plans to expand from two to four cages, targeting approximately 9,000 kg of fish per production cycle after expansion.
We also plan to introduce value-added products such as cleaned, packaged, smoked and filleted tilapia as the enterprise grows.
